<br>Cinema was born as a moving art,
and in the time of the Lumičre brothers it was a means of reaching remote areas and places which spectators could never have seen any other way.
Today,
over one hundred years later,
travel images no longer act as a support for <i>National Geographic</i> style documentaries or adventure films,
but instead we can find them in works covering a plethora of styles: political film,
society reports,
intimate diaries,
autobiographies or family portraits,
video clips,
comedies,
melodramas,
epistolary films...
Travels to the antipodes or to the neighbourhood round the corner,
interior and exterior journeys (or both at once).</font>

<font face="arial,helvetica,sans-serif" size="2">In this regard,
the stylistic references for this workshop range from Chris Marker and Joris Ivens to Jean Rouch and Johan van der Keuken.
All of them travelled around the world,
portraying the faces of individual people and social conflicts that the media ignore or filter out (we are thinking,
for instance,
of films like <i>Amsterdam Global Village</i>,
<i>Une histoire de vent</i> and <i>Sans soleil</i>).</font>

<font face="arial,helvetica,sans-serif" size="2">During the workshop,
Isaki Lacuesta will address landscape,
travel,
portraiture and self-portraiture.</font>
