THE DOCUMENTARY FILM PROJECT:


The 5sur5 Festival invites young filmmakers from Europe to take on a
challenge; to make a documentary film in just a few weeks. Five directors, 3
Europeans and 2 Belgians (one French speaker and one Dutch speaker) are
selected and invited to live together for five weeks and to take part in a
residential film-production project. Transportation, food and lodging, as
well as all crew and equipment involved in the shooting and editing are
provided so that each director can produce their own film.

The following rules and conditions must apply:
-       The film must be based on a pre-determined and pre-selected topic.
This topic will change yearly.
-       The film must be shot in the region of La Louvière (for 4
films) and a fifth one, in Mons, another city in the province of Hainaut.

The project will take place on the 30th August till the 5th of October 2013.


The theme for 2013’s festival is “Carte blanche”. There is
no particular to topic, you are free to choose what you want do…


The selection process

The non-Belgian candidates will be selected in collaboration with the
European Capitals of Culture.  The 5 sur 5 festival is a cinematic project
of Mons 2015 - The European Cultural Capital.

Requirements to apply

-Must have experience in filmmaking
-Must be capable of directing a technical crew
-Must be between 20 and 40 years of age.
-Must be able to work well with others
-Must be able to work under pressure
-Knowledge of English or French preferred

How to become one of the participants

The candidate’s application must include the following information:

-A curriculum vitae
-A cover letter explaining why you should be selected
-A completed application form
-Excerpts of previous work (DVD format)
