"Az egyszer volt, hol nem volt" egy kötetlen beszélgetés Gerardo  
Nolasco Maganával, amelynek keretében két legutóbbi projektjét  
ismerteti, melyeken az Igor Metropolban dolgozott az elmúlt  
hónapokban. Az egyik a technikai újdonságok a festészetre gyakorolt  
hatásáról szól, a másik a mexikói történelmet vizsgálja, a  
pszichoanalízis tükrében.

Gerardo Nolasco Magaña (1975) Mexikóvárosban született, művészeti  
tanulmányait ugyanitt folytatta. 2013 óta Budapesten él. A  
festészettől a hanginstallációig különböző médiumokkal  
dolgozik, de mindegyik projektjét kutatómunka előzi meg.  
Témaválasztása főként a történelemtudomány kérdésfelvetésein  
és módszertanán alapul, de a művészettörténet és a politológia  
és a természettudományok is foglalkoztatják. Számos nemzetközi  
múzeum és galéria kiállítója. 2002 óta rendszeres résztvevője  
a Jászdózsai Művésztelepnek.

"Once upon a time" will be an informal chat about Gerardo Nolasco's  
process of making art. He will talk about the two projects that he's  
developing at the Igor Metropol; one about the influence of technology  
on painting and the other about Mexican history through the lense of  
psychoanalysis.

Gerardo Nolasco Magaña (1975) was born in Mexico City, finished his  
education as an artist also in Mexico but from the year 2013 he lives  
and works in Budapest. He uses various media in his artistic practice;  
from painting to sound installation. His investigations are based on  
the topics and methods of history – also history of art, politics and  
natural sciences. He exhibited in countless art institutions and  
galleries in Mexico, among others in the Center of Contemporary  
Culture and Rufino Tamayo Museum, both in Mexico City. He takes part  
in the Art Camp at Jászdózsa, Hungary almost yearly from 2002.

2014: Műterem az Igor Metropolban

Jelentkezz, ha van egy régóta dédelgetett képzőművészeti  
projekted, aminek a megvalósításához eddig nem volt megfelelő  
tér, idő, keret. A kiadó műterem egy kelenföldi irodaház 4.  
emeletén, ca. 80 négyzetméteren teret biztosít a koncentrált  
munkának. A kész projekteket egy nyilvános prezentációval zárjuk:  
stúdiókiállítással, kerekasztal-beszélgetéssel, vagy szabadtéri  
vetítéssel a tetőteraszon. Jelentkezési határidő nincs, a  
portfólióval és rövid projektleírással kiegészített  
jelentkezéseket folyamatosan várjuk.

Are you an international artist/curator/cultural worker looking for a  
space to work in Budapest? Or are you local and in need for a  
temporary workspace to develop a project? Apply for a studio at Igor  
Metropol Association Budapest! Our studio is located in the Kelenföld  
district (Budapest 1116, Sztregova u. 1), on the 4th floor of an  
office building from the seventies. The maximum period of occupation  
is 3 months. If you are interested, please email us your portfolio and  
a short description of the project or work that you aim to complete in  
the Studio.
