OPEN CALLS

Dear All,

We are now accepting applications for the: EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM
2014-2015 and RESIDENCY PROGRAM 2015. For application guidelines see
below or on our website.

Our EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM was developed out of a need for combining art
education and professional production, establishing knowledge exchange
by a group of lecturers, participants, artists, curators and other
international creative practitioners and researchers from both within
and outside the field of contemporary art, fortifying the academic
community with a distinct brand of self-directed learning while
providing individuals with a community. The Educational Program is a
degreeless, non-academic program. Every year it selects a small group
of people with aspirations to realize individual projects and offers
them practical and theoretical support to enhance and realize them. In
addition, it offers wider professional support and access to resources
and community, encouraging participants to learn through practice. If
you are interested in developing a project: an art work, an
exhibition, a film, a book, a magazine, an online platform, an
institution, or any other project that you think can benefit from and
would in turn benefit the program, let us know! Guests for the 3rd
edition (2014-2015) include Miroslaw Balka, Liudvikas Buklys, Gintaras
Didžiapetris, Antanas Gerlikas, Ieva Misevičiūtė, Laure Prouvost,
Michael Portnoy, Kasia Redzisz, Juozas Laivys, Isla Leaver-Yap and
Jonas Žakaitis. More will be confirmed in the coming months.
Deadline: 23 September 2014
Program duration: October 2014-June 2015

Our RESIDENCY PROGRAM is suited for local and international thinkers:
artists, writers, curators, cultural managers, and academics,
providing them with the opportunity to live and work in Vilnius while
developing individual projects and immersing themselves in the
region’s creative sphere. Run alongside Rupert’s Educational,
Exhibitions and Public programs, it also enables residents to benefit
from collaboration with these programs that draw participants and
mentors from a wide range of complementary artistic backgrounds, as
well as attend talks, lectures and workshops by prominent curators,
artists and thinkers from all over the world. Located in the
picturesque area of Valakampiai in Vilnius and only a short distance
from the city’s flourishing cultural center, Rupert is set by the
river Neris and a small river beach, surrounded by peaceful fields and
a forest. The residencies are located in a newly-constructed building
designed by award-winning Lithuanian architect Audrius Ambrasas,
operating as an arts incubator which houses a number of creative
industries initiatives. Each resident is provided with a studio space
and mezzanine (approximately 52 sq m. altogether) to be used as a
production and research space during the residency. The studio is
fully furnished and equipped with WiFi. The building also houses a
reading room, conference room, and a kitchen, all of which are open
for residents’ use. Each resident is also provided with a Mac
computer and a bicycle for the duration of the program.

Deadline: 1 October 2014, midnight
January - June 2015

Hey, by the way, why did break dance choose us and why are b-girls and
-boys such close cousins to karaoke-kids? Karaoke, like breaking, is
gymnastic. It’s a work out. You simply substitute weights and
kilometers for songs and lyrics. You wanna take on Freddy Mercury? You
might want to start lighter. Or vice versa.
