For the eleventh time in 16 years the international residency program
Akademie Schloss Solitude – located in Stuttgart, Germany – is
granting approx. 60 residency fellowships of six to twelve months in
duration.

International artists are invited to apply from the following disciplines:
Architecture (architecture design, urban studies, landscape design),
Visual arts (including performance art and curatorial practice),
Performing arts (stage design, directing, dramaturgy, playwriting,
dance, acting, musical
theater, performance), Design (visual communication, fashion, costume,
product or furniture design), Literature (theory/criticism, essay,
poetry, fiction, translation), Music/sound (sound installation, sound
and music composition,
sound and music performance) and Video/film/new media (including video
installation).

For the first time starting this year, the art, science & business
program will be integrated in the jury process.

Scholars, scientists and professionals from the disciplines of the
humanities, the engineering sciences and economics may apply for a
residency fellowship (individually or suggested by a business) with
individual work topics
or a project related to the central theme »Dealing with Fear«.

A public foundation opened in 1990 and funded by the State of
Baden-Württemberg, the Akademie Schloss Solitude operates an
international residency program awarding live/work fellowships to
artists. Hundreds of artists from
over 70 countries have developed and advanced projects at the Akademie
since its opening, creating a close-knit, global network of Solitude
alumni that expands from year to year. In 2002, the Akademie initiated
the art, science &
business program with the goal to promote the dialogue between art,
the humanities, science, business and other professionals.

Persons up to 35 or who have completed a university or college degree
within the past five years are welcome to apply. Currently enrolled
university or college students (at the time of application) will not
be considered for selection.
Each fellowship recipient is granted Euro 1000 per month, in addition
to free lodging.

Application procedure:
Application forms can be requested in writing from the Akademie
Schloss Solitude, Solitude 3, 70197 Stuttgart,
Germany, E-mail: mail la akademie-solitude.de or downloaded from the
Internet as PDF documents at www.akademie-solitude.de.

Application deadline is October 31, 2006 (Postmark). The jury
decisions will not be made public before March 2007. The earliest date
to begin a residency will be in autumn 2007.

Further important reminders:
• The application form, questionnaire, confirmation for the receipt of
submitted materials, and the requested material have to be returned in
one parcel. Subsequent mailings or materials sent via email are not
consi dered.
• Incomplete applications will not be submitted to the jury, but
returned immediately.
• Applications from Germany: To cover handling and mailing costs,
please transfer 15 Euro to our account 100 3714 100 at the
Baden-Württembergische Bank, BLZ 600 200 30.
• Applications from North America, Western Europe and Japan: To cover
handling and mailing costs, please send international answering
coupons (available at post offices) in the amount of 15 Euros. We do
not accept checks.
