CALL FOR PARTICIPATION / COLLECTING VIDEOS BY ARTISTS (French version below)

'cf.' is a video programme designed for the
display entitled Zapping unit. The use of this
one person unit draws its inspiration from TV
zapping by offering an interactive browsing in a TV mosaic.
cf. is a programme showing short length videos
which derive from or take part in the artists’
research. This format, not compatible with
large-scale exhibitions, often lead artists to
integrate them into installation or encourage «
spectacular » features. Having no specific
broadcasting possibilities, these short videos
were usually seen by the artists as side
productions, research or footnotes. With no
exposure and no status, these films were
nevertheless constantly produced and piled up.
While offering to collect these videos, 'cf.'
will invite each artist to take another look at
his/her past work and change position. This
program will highlight the relationship between
the artist’s intention and the becoming of a work
while questionning the impact of the viewer’s gaze on a piece.


Technical information / send your videos
- The work submitted should not exceed 2 minutes
and should be accompanied by a short text.
- The work could have been made in the past years
but could also be a recent one.
- The video should be send in high resolution
(width 720 pixels X height 576 pixels).
- Deadline for sending your work:
20th of December 2006

APPEL À PARTICIPATION / COLLECTE DE VIDÉOS D'ARTISTES

'cf.' est un programme vidéo conçu pour être
diffusé dans le dispositif intitulé Zapping unit.
Destiné à un seul spectateur, l'utilisation du
module s'inspire du zapping télévisuel en
proposant un mode de navigation interactif à l'intérieur d'une mosaïque télé.
Le programme cf. réunira des vidéos de très
courte durée qui participent ou procèdent des
recherches plastiques des artistes mais qui
jusqu'à présent n'avaient pas de visibilité
propre. Leur format, inadapté aux grandes
expositions, a souvent conduit les artistes à les
intégrer à des installations ou à favoriser des
apparitions "spectaculaires". Ces vidéos ont
alors été considérées comme des productions
annexes et associées à des phases de recherche,
des notes de bas de page. Se dérobant au regard
des spectateurs et sans statut défini, ces
petites formes n'ont pourtant cessé d'être produites et accumulées.
En proposant leur collecte, cf. invite chaque
artiste à changer de point de vue et à réévaluer
la place de ces productions. Il s'agit
d'interroger la manière dont l'intention de
l'artiste informe sa production plastique et dont
le regard du spectateur peut transformer une œuvre.


Informations techniques / envoyer vos vidéos
- Les vidéos envoyéees ne devront pas excéder
deux minutes et seront accompagnées d'un texte de présentation.
- Il peut s'agir aussi bien d'oeuvres récentes que d'oeuvres plus anciennes.
- Elles devront être envoyées en haute définition
(format DV natif, largeur 720 pixels x hauteur 576 pixels).
- La date limite de dépôt a été repoussée au :
