CALL FOR ENTRY/ “SOLE E LUNA” DOC FEST PALERMO INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY
FESTIVAL

Dear friends,
“Sole e Luna” Doc Fest was born of the conviction that it is possible to
build a bridge between western cultures and the Mediterranean/Islamic
cultures.
It’s a Festival that narrates the history and the stories of the
civilizations of the Mediterranean and Islamic countries both from the
western and the eastern point of view.
Through audiovisual means it is possible to convey to a large and
transversal public all the information and contents about countries that
seem geographically very far, but that historically share values and
traditions.
It is a Festival oriented to documentaries produced by and on
Mediterranean and Islamic countries. The second edition of the Festival
will take place next July in Palermo and then it will move to other
Italian and European cities with further reviews.
Sicily seemed the perfect place to start this adventure since it has
been
the cradle of all the Mediterranean civilizations.
  “Sole e Luna” Doc Fest will become a centre for those intellectuals
(from
Morocco to Saudi Arabia, from Indonesia to Sudan) that want to
communicate
through a documentary a feeling, a peculiar civil and social identity,
an
idea, a dream.
I invite you filmmakers, directors, TV networks, scientists,
universities,
travellers and adventure lovers, to send (and to come and see) your
productions to Palermo, in order to contribute to such an extraordinary
and splendid  exhibition.

Cari amici,
nella profonda convinzione che sia possibile edificare un ponte tra le
culture occidentali e le culture mediterranee e dell’Islam è nato “Sole
e
Luna” Doc Fest, Festival di documentari che raccontano la storia, le
storie delle civiltà dei Paesi mediterranei e islamici viste da Oriente
e
Occidente.
Attraverso il mezzo audiovisivo sarà possibile trasmettere ad un
pubblico
ampio e trasversale un messaggio ricco di contenuti e di informazioni su
un mondo che appare tanto lontano geograficamente ma che ha condiviso
invece storicamente con il nostro, quello occidentale, valori e
tradizioni.
Si tratta di un Festival del documentario principalmente orientato verso
la documentaristica prodotta su e da i Paesi Mediterranei e Islamici che
avrà la sua seconda edizione a Palermo nel prossimo luglio per poi
essere
riproposto in altre regioni d’Italia e in alcune capitali europee
attraverso successive rassegne. La Sicilia ci è sembrata la sede più
adatta per l’inizio di questa avventura in quanto culla di tutte le
culture mediterranee.
“Sole e Luna” Doc Fest darà contesto, ambito all’intero oriente del
mondo
, offrirà uno spazio per tutti quegli intellettuali che, dal Marocco
all’
Arabia Saudita, dall’Indonesia al Sudan sentono la necessità di
comunicare
proprio attraverso il documentario, uno stato d’animo, una propria
peculiarità civile e sociale, un’idea, un sogno.
Chiediamo allora a voi registi, case di produzione, network televisivi,
scienziati, università, appassionati di viaggi e avventure, di mandare
(e
venire a vedere) a Palermo le vostre realizzazioni, per dar vita e
consapevolezza ad una kermesse straordinaria, coinvolgente e umana.
