Kemijarvi Artists Residency Programme, Finland, DEADLINE 10 April 2007


The Kemijärvi artist Residency is one of the largest Artist Residency
programmes in Finland. It is managed by the Kemijärvi Sculpture and
Culture Foundation that was established by the town of Kemijärvi and
Kemijärvi Wood Sculpting Association on the 23rd of June in 2003.

The Residency is located in the centre of our beautiful town. Next to it
there is a market place where many events are held annually. The central
location of the residence enables versatile free time activities. In the
town there is a movie theatre, swimming pool and spa, an adult college,
etc. The facilities for the outdoor and nature activities are also
versatile in our region.


The purpose of the Residency is to concentrate on international artist
exchange. The traditional Wood Sculpting Symposium held in Kemijärvi is
connected to the activities of the artist's Residency. The purpose is also
that the visiting artists will participate in developing local art and
cultural life.



All applications must be postmarked by April 10, 2007, for residencies
after September 2007. Applicants will be notified by June 30, 2007.

Incomplete applications and those postmarked after April 10, 2007, will
not be considered.

Two or more artists may propose to come as a team to execute a Special
Project.

Final acceptance is at the discretion of the Selection Committees and the
Board of Directors.

The artists can apply for a place at the Residency by an informal
application or using the official application form of the Residency. With
the application please send a copy of your CV with original signatures,
picture material about any earlier works / portfolio, working plan during
the visit, the preferred duration of the Residency, and the facts
concerning the working studios that will be needed.

The Kemijärvi Sculpture and Culture Foundation is responsible for the
selection of the artists. The selected applicants will be informed
personally.

The application period to the Kemijärvi Residency is at any time during
the year.

If the applicant would like the material to be returned, please attach a
self-addressed envelope with the materials. Please, do not send any
originals.

In addition, two bursaries are awarded annually via the UNESCO/Aschberg
bursary program www.unesco.org/culture/ifpc. The UNESCO program is
restricted to certain disciplines and geographic regions. Individuals who
meet the UNESCO guidelines should apply using the UNESCO application
procedures and forms. Applications for the UNESCO bursaries must be
submitted by April 30 each year.
