The 16th Paloma O’Shea Santander International Piano Competition has just
been announced. It will be held in Santander, Spain from July 25 - August
7, 2008. Registration is open to pianists the world over born in 1979 or
later.

The International Piano Competition returns to Santander to offer young
pianists the world over the opportunity to reach recognition and to start
their first steps in their professional careers.
The Preselection trials will take place in April 2008 in Moscow, New York,
Paris and Madrid. This trial will consist of a programme with a maximum
duration of forty minutes played before the Jury.

The prizes of the Competition are important, not only for their
significant amounts - the First Prize and Gold Medal is endowed with
€30,000 in addition to a Kawai grand piano, a Rolex watch Cellini
Collection, and the recording of a CD for the Naxos label – but also
because of the inclusion of a great concert tour with presentations in the
most important music centers in the world.

The registration period is now open and will end on December 31, 2007.
