A deeply held commitment to creative and intellectual inquiry has been the
key to the success of California College of the Arts over the last 100
years. CCA's graduate programs offer rigorous and compelling courses
taught by an award-winning faculty and visiting artists, designers,
architects, and writers. The programs also host a robust lecture series
and offer opportunities for meaningful interdisciplinary exchange both
within the college's graduate community and throughout the Bay Area.

Graduate Center Completed
CCA's new Graduate Center was enhanced this fall with the addition of a
two-story, 24,000-square-foot building that houses artist studios,
offices, a student lounge, media studios, and classrooms. The San
Francisco campus now has 100 individual studios for Fine Arts students and
brand-new facilities for the Writing, Design, and Social Practice
programs.

New Program: MFA in Film
The two-year, accelerated Graduate Program in Film will launch in fall
2008. The Academy Award--winning filmmaker Rob Epstein is chair of this
all-digital program, which will be housed in a new, state-of-the-art
facility on CCA's San Francisco campus. The program aims to nurture an
American new wave of filmmakers, teaching the elements of narrative
storytelling and film aesthetics from a variety of international
perspectives while giving students the tools to develop new ways to
communicate their ideas. Film students will benefit from interaction with
CCA's creative community.

Epstein comments, "More than ever, there is interplay among the modes
and methods of narrative fiction and documentary filmmaking. Our graduates
will be well versed in all of these forms, with narrative as the common
foundation, making our film school unique."

New Program: MBA in Design Strategy
Recognizing the increasing importance of design and its impact on the
business world, CCA is launching a new MBA in Design Strategy program, the
first of its kind in the United States. Enrolling its initial class of
students in fall 2008, this innovative program will unite the studies of
design, finance, and organizational management in a unique curriculum
aimed at providing students with tools to address today's complex and
interconnected market. Its approach encompasses performance, strategy,
innovation, and the encouragement of meaningful, sustainable social
change.

Chair Nathan Shedroff states, "Our goal is to create a center of
thought on the synthesis of design and business, and to train the next
generation of leaders in this rapidly changing business environment."
