Call for artists to participate in the exhibition “TAKE ME TO THE
RIVER” in Istanbul:

Mansoora Hassan (Artist) and DEPO / Anadolu Kültür are presenting the
exhibition, “TAKE ME TO THE RIVER”, to be launched during the World
Water Forum 5: Bridging Divides for Water, March 2009, Istanbul, Turkey

Exhibition Venue: DEPO / Tütün Deposu, Istanbul

Exhibition Dates: March 9th – March 21st 2009

Take Me To The River (TMTTR) is an international collaboration among
artists and thinkers formed by an international group of artists. The
purpose of Take Me To The River is to create a bridge across borders
through art as a river crosses borders and unites people, communities, and
countries along its path by reflecting both the diversities and
similarities among people of different countries. In doing so, TMTTR is
exploring the development of interactive, transnational cultures with the
work addressing political, environmental, cross-cultural and individual
content.

Water is the TMTTR Group’s unifying element and a global concern. We
work with an open mind and dialogue while observing both a unified and
divided world. Countries represented in TMTTR, to date, include: Brazil,
Cuba, Egypt, Germany, Pakistan, Peru, South Africa, and the United States.
For the Istanbul exhibit, TMTTR will include artists from Turkey, Georgia,
Azerbaijan, Armenia, Syria, Iran and other neighboring countries.

The Take Me To The River: Turkey, planned by the TMTTR Group is specially
designed for concerns related to the World Water Forum’s theme
“Bridging Divides For Water”. The TMTTR Project artists are committed
to addressing issues in working creatively with communities with a focus
on the linkage between water and culture. Climate change and the
destruction of natural ecosystems are crying for solutions to manage and
protect water resources in a more serious and systematic way. This
involves issues of education, knowledge sharing, capacity building, global
networks, and the important role of women in finding innovative solutions
to address the problems of the 21st century.
