[Oberlist] TR* call/expo: artist initiative gathering 'Alternative to what?'

Dear artist initiative,

In case your initiative exists for one year or more and also shows art  
from other artists (which are not founder/member of the initiative) we  
would like to register for a special network event for artists  
initiatives in Istanbul between 10-15 September.

The program consists of artist-initiatives presenting themselves to  
each other, a program to visit the Biennale (including the opening on  
12 September) together and two conference days (13 and 14 September).  
This gathering of artist-initiatives is set up to research the need  
for the organization of an Art Pie in the region (checkhttp://www.kunstvlaai.nl/2008/?page_id=23) 
. The Art Pie is a fair for artist-initiatives and not-for-profit  
cultural practices that present the work of young artists. The topic  
of the conference will be 'Alternative to what?' focusing on the very  
different conditions and ambitions of artist initiatives in various  
parts of the world.

Each initiative will get one table and one wall (2m wide) to present  
catalogues, brochures, small art works and A4 handouts or other  
documentation. There will be a screening room for DVDs and video's. We  
have arranged a presentation space which is free and are currently  
negotiating free accommodation for those initiatives that we invite.  
There is space for 30-50 artist initiatives from Europe and the (wide)  
region around Turkey.

This event is no budget, so we will not be able to provide travel  
costs, but the event itself is free and we hope to invite  
participating artist-initiatives again to a bigger event in the near  
future which will have a budget for the initiatives to show their best  
projects.
