Hello friends,

This December, InCUBATE’s monthly residency will be sponsored in the name of
Michael Piazza (1955‐
2006). Michael was an artist, teacher, activist who spent his life working
with voices that were quieted by
trauma, incarceration, power, and disability. He sought to encourage the
spirit of creativity in those who
never set out to struggle. He imagined how the arts and knowledge could
awaken a spirited sense of
themselves in a world ‐‐ a world that could recognize them as producers and
leverage their deficiencies as a
powerful voice to combat injustice and reconcile change.

The usual residency fee will be waived and the resident will be given $250
as a production budget. For the
duration of the month an archive of Michael’s work will be stored on‐site at
the Orientation Center. Midway
through the residency, InCUBATE will host a public symposium co‐organized by
the resident and Michael’s
friend Jim Duignan of the Stockyard Institute.

Proposals are due *October 15th, 2009*.
