Zelezna opona padla. Stena, ktora rozdelovala Europu je zmazana. Je
prikladom mnohych inych neviditelnych linii a hranic, ktore existuju
dodnes a nechavaju stopy v spolocnosti novej zjednotenej Europy.
Vystava "Erased Walls" prezentuje sucasne umenie zo strednej a vychodnej
Europy ako obraz spolocne definovaneho kulturneho priestoru. Masivne
spolocenske, politicke a geopoliticke zmeny poslednych 20 rokov su
prezentovane cez sucasne umenie tychto krajin na komunikacnej estetickej
baze. "Erased Walls" sluzi ako umelecky katalog sucasnej situacie.
Kuratori z Ruska, Ukrajiny, Gruzinska, Ceskej republiky, Slovenska a
Polska pripravili prispevky tykajuce sa ustrednych tem rozlicnych krajin,
ktore zaroven ponukaju analyzu kulturnych rozdielov ale predstavuju i
rozdielne spajajuce prvky. Jednotlive spolocenske, politicke, filozoficke
a kulturne temy sluzia ako odrazovy mostik pre spolocnu diskusiu spajajucu
koncept vyjadreny v nazve vystavy.
Projekt Erased Walls sa kona od 24. septembra do 22. oktobra ako uvodna
vystava Freies Muzea v Berline. Otovrenie bude sprevadzat medzinarodny
kulturny program pozostavajuci z performance, tanca a filmu ako i
medzinarodneho sympozia s temou "Kulturny priestor strednej a vychodnej
Europy". Po skonceni vystavy bude projekt dalej pokracovat s
individualnymi akciami do novembra v priestoroch Freies Muzea v Berline.

ERASED WALLS
contemporary art in Middle and Eastern Europe

Exhibition runs: 25 September - 22 October 2009
Opening hours: Mon-Sat 12 - 7, Thu 12 - 24

The Iron Curtain falls. The wall which divided Europe is erased. This is
one example of the many other invisible lines, the ghost boundaries that
still exist today and leave traces in the societies of a unifying new
Europe.
The exhibition "Erased Walls" shows contemporary art from Middle and
Eastern Europe, defining a collective cultural space through this filter.
The massive social, political and geopolitical changes in the last 20
years can be experienced via the contemporary art of these countries, on a
communicative aesthetic basis. "Erased Walls" serves as an artistic
inventory of the current situation.
Curators and initiators of Biennales from Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, the
Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland developed contributions, which pertain
to central topics of the different countries, which analyse cultural
differences and exhibit multiple unifying elements. The individual social,
political, philosophical and cultural topics that emerge, serve as a
springboard for a collective discussion, cementing the concept expressed
in the title.
The "Erased Walls" project takes place from 24th of September to 22h of
October 2009 as the opening exhibition of the Freies Museum Berlin. This
inauguration is accompanied by an international cultural program
consisting of performance, dance, and film contributions as well as an
international symposium with the topic "Cultural space of Middle and
Eastern Europe". Following the closure of the physical exhibition, the
project will be continued with single events until November in the space
of Freies Museum Berlin.
