CEI Trieste Exhibition of Contemporary Visual Art
 in the framework of the 2001 Venice Biennale
 
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Deadline: 30 April 2011
 
Overview
 
The Central European Initiative (CEI) is organising a contemporary visual art
exhibition to be held in Trieste in the framework of the project of
“decentralised Venice Biennale” promoted by the curator of the Italian
Pavilion,
Prof. Vittorio Sgarbi, which will involve all Italian regions. The CEI
exhibition will be opened in June in connection with the opening days of the
Venice Biennale. The exhibition is dedicated to Italian artists living or
working in CEI Member States[1] as well as to artists from CEI Member States
having close links with Italy (e.g. long-term staying in Italy for studying /

The CEI closely cooperates with the “Trieste Contemporanea Committee.
Dialogues
with the Art of Central and Eastern Europe” which provides its expertise
to the
overall organisation of the event, including the artists’ selection. The
Committee will rely on the established partnership of the international
project
“Continental Breakfast” which includes relevant contemporary art
institutions in

Eligible candidates
 
§     Italian citizens minimum 18 years old living or regularly
working in one
CEI Member State
§     Citizens minimum 18 years old from one CEI Member State living or
regularly working in Italy

 
How to apply
 
The artists wishing to submit their candidatures shall send by Saturday, 30
April 2011 their application to the Trieste Contemporanea Committee at the
following e-mail address:
tscont at tin.it
 
The application must include the following obligatory enclosures:

1. The registration form duly filled in (find attached)
2. A portfolio as a PDF file (max 10 pages/2MB) including:
- a series of images, presenting an overview of candidate’s body of
work, with
data (title, year, technique, dimensions) and description of the works (in
Italian or English, maximum 1000 strokes);

- an artistic statement (optional, in Italian or English, maximum 2000
strokes);
- Curriculum Vitae (in Italian or English) containing the following data:
education; solo exhibitions of the last 3 years; group exhibition of the
last 3
years; residencies, awards, grants and scholarships, if any; other (maximum 3
lines).

●Video artists could also add a link to a video work or an excerpt from a
video(maximum 3 minutes) and the description of the work (in Italian or
English,
maximum 1000 strokes).

 
Only the documentation duly filled in and submitted within the established
deadline will be taken into consideration.
 
The selected artists will be contacted by 6 May 2011.
