Festival migrantskega filma Na poti / Migrant film festival On the road

Vabilo filmskim in video ustvarjalcem / Call for film and video authors

Slovensko (English below)

Slovenska filantropija in Zavod Voluntariat bosta
beguncev s tokrat že tretjo izvedbo festivala migrantskega filma »Na poti«
(FMF 2012).

najrazličnejših razlogov primorani zapustiti svoje domove in
osebnih lastnosti in okoliščin posameznikov (npr. spol in spolna
usmerjenost), drugi zaradi negativnih posledic globalizacije, neenakomerne
ekonomske in socialne razvitosti držav na regionalni in globalni ravni ter
zaradi sprememb v življenjskih okoljih, ki jim preprečujejo
vzdrževanje vzpostavljenih ekonomskih in drugih življenjskih vzorcev in
navad. Migracije (p)ostajajo eden osrednjih globalnih trendov 21. stoletja
nacionalni in mednarodni ravni.

K izmenjavi mnenj vabimo izkušene in manj
izkušene filmske ustvarjalce ter druge aktiviste in zagovornike pravic
migrantov.
strpnejše, pravičnejše in bolj vključujoče družbe!

naslov s pripisom: Za Festival migrantskega filma »Na poti«.

In year 2000 United Nations declared 20th of June as World Refugee Day. To
bring the WRD 2012 to the attention of domestic and international
audiences, Slovene Philanthropy and Zavod Voluntariat are preparing to
organize the third edition of the Festival of Migrant Film »On the Road«
(FMF 2012, located in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia) which aims to
highlight the best available international film and video products
dedicated to migrations, asylum and refugees.

The festival focuses and is dedicated to all migrants who, for a number of
reasons, are forced to leave their homes and search for an opportunity to
create a decent life for themselves and for their families outside of
their home community. In the 21st century, we are still experiencing some
familiar causes for (forced) migrations, as well as “discovering” some new
ones. While many choose to abandon home after suffering discrimination
related to their ethnic, cultural or religious affiliation or on the
ground of personal circumstances or characteristics (e.g. gender and
sexual orientation), others are facing negative consequences of
globalization, uneven economic and social development of states on
regional and global level and changes in their living habitats which
prevent them from maintaining established economic and other habitual
patterns of life. Migrations remain one of the principal global trends of
the 21st century and demand our (collective) reflection regarding their
causes and creation of possibilities for integration of migrants into new
environments, including critical assessment of (in)adequacy of local and
international migration and asylum policies.

The organizers of the festival wish to employ film as means for
stimulation of a public discussion about situations and issues millions of
migrants are facing within their daily struggles. We issue this call with
an intent to invite experienced and not-so-experienced filmmakers,
activists and advocates of migrants’ rights to exchange their opinions and
express their views on selected topics through their films and videos.
Received products will not be selected based on technical details or
recognisability of the authors, but rather on the basis of originality of
approach to selected topic and activist potential to contribute to
creation of more tolerant, just and inclusive society!

If you wish to participate, please send a COPY of your film or video on
DVD (the copy will not be returned to the sender) along with the filled-in
application form to the postal address below.
