Below you can find the summary of the TC:
Active citizenship is a prerequisite to the existence of a strong civil
society not arbitrarily subject to the power of governments. The awareness
of civil and political rights is accompanied in parallel to that of the
role as a citizen and is actively expressed through the enjoyment of
freedom of speech and association. In doing so the different components of
civil society, dealing freely on topics of general interest, mature sense
of belonging to a social and shared “contract” and temper selfish and
disruptive impulses. It's therefore necessary to establish the importance
of a continental active citizenship as the base of a strong civil society
able to prevent local conflicts and by giving young people a central role
in its construction. "CitizenShipping new Ideas to Europe" will involve
youngsters and youth workers from more than 10 counties in the field of
Active citizenship, European citizenship and youth participation with a
special focus on the situation and the needs in Eastern Partnership
Countries. The main goal of this TC is to provide participants a concrete
support for their professional development as youth workers and youth
leaders to promote active citizenship through YiA projects. Participants
will discuss the meaning of Active Citizenship, what citizenship means and
what an active citizenship needs. This T.C. will be a platform for
youngsters to discuss basic issues concerning participation, active
citizenship, share experiences and learn more about non-formal methods for
future projects. Finding intercultural differences, similarities and values
that European youngsters have in common will inspire participants to new
ideas for future collaboration. The project is based on non-formal
educational methods (discussions, workshops, group work, role play, open
space technology, brainstorming, practical work, etc.) in order to help
participants get more familiar with the theme and get rid off cultural and
