IZOLYATSIA opens up for an exhibition collaboration in the East of Ukraine

Despite the forced displacement that drove IZOLYATSIA from Donetsk to
Kyiv, IZOLYATSIA foundation retains its connection to Donbas by
implementing several projects that relate to the region. In February 2015,
IZOLYATSIA launched a series of events in the East of Ukraine called
ZMINA, the first of which was held in Mariupol
(http://izolyatsia.org/en/project/smena,
http://izolyatsia.org/en/project/smena/mariupol-post-release/). The goal
of ZMINA projects is to involve local communities in the process of
developing and realizing their own potential.

The project combines various activities and events like The House of Cards
– an installation and performance by Sergey Zakharov, documentary film
screenings, workshops by IZOLAB – a digital fabrication laboratory, and
master classes in photography. By taking part in implementing these events
with local communities, the immediate goal is to empower individuals and
create impulses for meaningful cultural, social and economic change. Next
stops for ZMINA project are Kramatorsk, Slavyansk and Druzhkovka. In
addition to the goals mentioned above, IZOLYATSIA wishes to draw attention
to the conflict in the East of Ukraine and invites its international
partners to support this objective. We are looking for an exhibition
raising issues that resonate with communities on Ukrainian frontline
territories. Suggested themes are: reconciliation, hope, memory, finding
common ground, moving past hardship, looking to the future.
