> In collaboration with Kunsthall 3,14 a series of rough seminars will run over the next year, resulting in an exhibition to open October 2018. The Imaginary Republic looks at questions of public life and civic culture in today’s global environment, and how recent economic, social, and political unrest have led to an intensification of grass-roots initiatives, artistic activism, and forms of public commoning – what Stavros Stavrides terms “communities in movement”. The project aims to consider strategies for creative instituting and independent social configurations and in what ways poetic acting may work to reconstitute public power.

> Rough Seminar #1 is centered around the work of Tatiana Fiodorova, an artist from Moldova working with questions of social and political history, particularly in relation to the post-Soviet transition. For the seminar Fiodorova will focus on her artist’s books, which are one of her most prevalent means of expression. This will include presenting a “pop up” exhibition of her publications IN search of the social body of Soviet artist, Soviet Passport, and Factory Steaua Rosie, Bessarabia and Inhabitants and Toilet Paper Maps from Prague, Vienna, Bucharest. For Fiodorova, the artist’s book is a medium that allows for the presentation of different artistic practices.

> Preceding Fiodorova’s presentation, a listening session is organized by Brandon LaBelle. Focusing on histories and narratives of utopian communities and their poetic-ethos as found in musical and lyrical expressions, the session invites audiences to engage in a collective listening of related audio documents and song.

> Tatiana Fiodorova is a Moldavian artist, curator and educator working with current political and social themes, often evaluated in contextual relation to the history of the Soviet Union.  This results in works of installation, live performance, public art, video and artists’ books. Certain areas of her practice are also deeply engaged with the artworks of her prematurely deceased father, Vasilii Lefter, who left Tatiana a large archive of sketchbooks, diaries, drawings, manuals, poster designs and documentary photographs; and at the intersection of these two. Fiodorova’s work has been shown at Biennial of contemporary photography and moving image, Iasi, Romania (2016), The Delhi Photo Festival (2015), the parallel programme of the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art (2015), Salonul de proiecte at Viennafair (2013), Torino PERFORMANCEART (2013), IDFF CRONOGRAF  international documentory film festival, Chisinau( 2013), Lago Film Festival International Festival of Short Films, Documentaries and Screenplays in Italy (2012),  Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art (2011), “Atlantis 11” at the Venice Biennale (2011), Kunst- und Kulturfestival, Berlin  (2011), and Periferic Biennial 8, Romania (2008).

> Brandon LaBelle is an artist, writer and theorist working with sound culture, voice, and questions of agency. He develops and presents artistic projects and performances within a range of international contexts, often working collaboratively and in public. Recent works include “The Ungovernable”, Documenta 14, Athens (2017), “Oficina de Autonomia”, Ybakatu Gallery, Curitiba (2017), “The Hobo Subject”, Gallery Forum, Zagreb (2016), and “The Living School”, South London Gallery (2016).
