CALL FOR ENTRIES - DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: 31st DECEMBER 2009



Dear Friends

We are glad to announce that the 10th edition of the goEast-Festival of
Central and Eastern European Film will take place from 21st to 27th of
April, 2010 in Wiesbaden, GERMANY. The goEast Film Festival is hosted by
the German Filminstitut - DIF e.V., Frankfurt/ Main, and is one of the
most important festivals of Central and Eastern European films. During
seven days, the festival presents around 150 full-length and short
feature films and documentaries in several sections.

The films for the goEast Festival can be submitted into one of the
following categories:


- International competition of full-length feature films (not shorter
than 80 min.)
- International competition of full-length documentaries (not shorter
than 30 min.)
- Non-competitive film programmes: Highlights and Signature

The competition prizes are:

- The main award "Golden Lily" for Best Film, going to the producer,
endowed with EUR 10.000
- The documentary film award, going to the director, endowed with EUR
10.000
- The award for Best Director, endowed with EUR 7.500
- The award for "artistic originality which creates cultural diversity",
endowed with EUR 2.000

The Festival has an agreement with ZDF/ 3sat, a German state TV channel,
to buy two films from the goEast festival programme. After the 3sat
committee has made its decision, the production companies will be
directly contacted.

Eligible for submission are films from the post- communist countries of
Central, Eastern and Southeast Europe, including the former republics of
the Soviet Union.

For the documentary competition, likewise eligible to compete are films
produced in Germany or Israel but bearing a clear relation to Central
and Eastern Europe, whether due to the origin of the director and/or the
subject of the film. The documentary award aims to honour directors who
critically and constructively analyze social developments in their
countries of origin, and thereby point out future-oriented perspectives.

Only works produced after January 2008, can be included in these
sections. Only English subtitled 35mm prints (in case of documentary
competition also Beta SP or DV) will be accepted.
